Your Bladder Neck Could Limit Urine Flow
If you struggle with frequency, urgency, nocturia as well as a decreased force of stream, hesitancy or incomplete emptying, you could have a bladder neck obstruction. This occurs when urine cannot easily flow during urination. There could be structural changes at the bladder neck, such as hyperplasia or a flaw in the structure of urinary sphincter, the smooth muscle of the bladder and/or nerves in the bladder. It could also be the result of sphincter dysfunction. Therapy can include some medications such as alpha blockers or, for more severe cases, surgery to relieve the obstruction.
